Из угнанных на каторжные работы в Германию и страны, находившиеся под ее оккупацией, на Родину вернулось чуть больше половины из 5,27 миллионов человек. Остальные погибли или умерли в плену, около 450 тысяч иммигрировали.

Потери нашей страны составляют 40% всех людских потерь во Второй мировой войне.
