Дорогие друзья! Писатель, которому сегодня исполнилось бы 210 лет — и публицист, и философ, и педагог, автор воспоминаний «Былое и думы», основатель русского вольного книгопечатания, Александр Герцен. Приглашаем читателей на час интересной книги «Свобода мысли».

Писатель Александр Герцен был одним из самых ярых критиков крепостного права, а в начале XX века оказался едва ли не символом революционной борьбы. Вплоть до 1905 года в России Герцен оставался запрещенным писателем, а полное собрание сочинений автора вышло только после Октябрьской революции.

Своими трудами автор поднимает важный вопрос свободы личности, свободы слова, свободы мысли.

«Важными характеристиками человека являются свобода и воля, самосознание и мышление, далекие от животного произвола. Творческая возможность свободно действовать является прекрасным доказательством присутствия в человеке высокого духовного начала».

Согласно Герцену – личность свободна, но она отвечает за выбор поступков.

* У Александра Герцена был общий предок с правящей династией Романовых — боярин Андрей Кобыла.
* Унаследовать фамилию отца, помещика Ивана Яковлева, он не мог, поэтому отец придумал ему фамилию Герцен, означающую в переводе «сын сердца».
* У него было несколько братьев и сестёр по линии отца.
* В детстве будущий литератор воспитывался дома, как и все дворянские дети того времени.
* К 10 годам Александр Герцен, помимо русского, свободно владел немецким и французским языками.
* Герцен был воспитан на французских романах, произведениях Гете и Шиллера, комедиях Коцебу и Бомарше.
* На формирование его личности и взглядов оказали большое влияние стихи Пушкина, рабочие тетради которого ему приносил наставник.
* Некоторые публикации Герцена в журнале «Телескоп» были подписаны его псевдонимом «Искандер» (производное от имени Александр на турецком языке).
* Первая его публикация состоялась, когда ему было 24 года.

* По воспоминаниям, впервые мысли о революции появились у автора в возрасте 13 лет, когда он узнал о восстании декабристов.

* Герцен принимал активное участие в собраниях кружка Белинского, и с этой целью даже регулярно ездил из Москвы в Петербург.

* Писатель был женат дважды, обе его жены носили имя — Наталья.

* После смерти отца, устроившего его на государственную службу, писатель переехал из России сначала во Францию, затем в Ниццу.
